Pacific Beach Book Hunt & Poolside Pizza

Out and about in Pacific Beach this morning, Ira suggested we drive by a few Little Free Libraries. What a fantastic idea! There are so many scattered throughout the neighborhood--I hadn't realized how much fun it would be to hunt them down and discover new books. Wasn't Ira sweet to suggest it?

Did you catch the little window tucked beneath the roofline of Library #2. I took a peek and was delighted to find a miniature sitting room inside! Ira's Aunt Laurie, who is the queen of miniatures, might even be impressed. At least she would be able to tell us the scale!

After our literary scavenger hunt, we headed back to La Jolla. Ira has been wanting to try out a take-and-bake pizza place he'd heard about, and pool day with RC and his family felt like the perfect excuse.

American Pizza Manufacturing

At American Pizza Mfg, you place your order at the counter, sip a little complimentary wine while you wait, and then take your freshly assembled pizza home to bake in your own oven.

We ordered:
  • The Harley - Italian sausage, sweet caramelized onion, fresh cut sage, asiago sprinkle, plus we added soppressata.
  • The Gibson (half) - Spinach, speck, caramelized onions, garlic, Calabrian peppers
  • The Jackie O' (otherhalf) - Pesto base, grilled chicken, red onions, heirloom grape tomatoes, garlic, kalamata olives, chevre, basil chiffonade.

We also picked up a salad and a take-and-bake chocolate chip cookie for dessert.

Luckily, the skies cleared up just in time, and we had a fantastic pool day!

Until next time.

A dopo!
