Apartment Update
Since scaffolding has to wait until after tourist season, we decided to shift our focus to something we could control: designing our kitchen.
While we were still in Italy, we had met with the kitchen designers to figure out the layout. As of today... we've made our deposit and signed the contract. Yay! Locking in the contract was important--not just to get the process rolling, but also to lock in the pricing. Because let's be honest...when do prices ever go down?
The Kitchen & Living Space
It was a lot of work and took a lot of time, but in the end, that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The extra time gave us space to reflect, revisit ideas, weigh the pros and cons, and make decisions we now feel really good about.
Here are the renderings of the front room:
Overhead rendering of the kitchen and living space--our future hangout zone.
View from the hallway, giving a good sense of flow and natural light.
Looking back toward the door to the hallway--the island really defines the space.
We had no idea how much thought and planning goes into building a kitchen, but we're happy to say: it's done! We're really happy with how it turned out.
Next on the list is a trip to Milan, where we'll finalize:
- the island chairs
- the couch
- the occasional chair
The main showroom is there, so we can try everything out in person. Not pictured in the renderings is the pouf (ottoman) that will sit on the rug. We love this room already--honestly, we'll probably spend 75% or more of our time here.
The Master Bedroom
The Master Bedroom layout--my desk faces the window for max inspiration
Custom Storage Unit across from the bed--stylish and functional
Might be time for another round of decluttering...LOL.
The Guest Room / Office
Our dual-purpose guest room--with room for Ira's desk and even yoga
The wall bed transforms the space while giving us tons of extra storage
A dopo!
