Dinner with the Fam

For as long as we'd lived in Las Vegas, we were used to people coming into town for a few days for a whirlwind tour before heading back home. Most of their schedules would be too jam-packed to fit in a visit with us. So we were pleasantly surprised when Ira's cousins, Sara and Amelia, were available for dinner. They decided on Battista's Hole in the Wall, a Las Vegas classic and the oldest Italian restaurant in town.

Ira had never been and it had been 18 years for me. It looked the same outside. Inside was chaotic with a constant stream of diners and the pickers-style decor.

They sat us at a round table for 6, including their twin daughters Nora and Maeve. It was loud and raucous and full of energy. Not the spot for a romantic dinner, for sure, but fun and funky and perfect for our group. The menus were posted on the wall, just in case you were wondering.

Yes, you are reading that correctly, all meals come with unlimited house red or white wine, your choice of salad or minestrone and if you order a protein, you get a side pasta. To our Italian friends, all I can say is, "It's Vegas, Baby". For dessert the adults got a mug of sweet cappuccino with whipped cream on top (Lo so, lo so che é sbagliato in tanti modi!) and the kids got a cup of vanilla ice cream which received mixed reviews.

But despite everything, we had so much fun catching up on the news. If Sara hasn't already spilled the beans, we accepted an offer on our house. So things are moving forward!

A dopo!
