Bonsai

While I was at work this day, Ira took on a new bonsai client, Bret. He is a Mirai student and is signed up for his last class there this fall. With kids, family life, and the big increase in tuition Bret decided to stop spending on classes but not on his love of bonsai. This made for a  perfect match. Bret was happy to pay for Ira to come and work on some of his trees. Below is a quick video of the juniper Ira re-styled for him. The apex had died, so it needed to be reworked. See how he made room for all the branches to get equal sunlight?

With each additional paying customer, Ira is becoming more and more comfortable working as a bonsai professional. In fact, working for Bret and David could become an annual gig. Wouldn't that be great!

Finished re-work

David has already mentioned that he would love to have Ira come once during repotting season and a second time to cover their summer vacation. That would also allow us to be away during the high seasons for renting out our apartment in Massa. It could work out to be a win-win.

I guess we'll see. We have to get to Italy first!

A dopo.
