After our very full day at Tikal, Iris and her aunt said their goodbyes and Anouska, Ira and I decided on a lazy day at one of the other islands, Caye Caulker (pronounced 'Key CAW-kuhr').
Pelican Beach Punch
It was about an hour ride on the water taxi then a short walk to this restaurant on the water. We enjoyed the laziest lunch ever of fresh seafood and punch with a punch. It was nice to chill and have time to visit. At our servers recommendation for our last hour and half on the island we jumped on an island taxi to the Tarpon pools.
Feeding the tarpons
Our cabbie was great and suggested to pick us up after at 'The Split' in time to make it for the last water taxi off the island. 'The Split' turned out to be the bar at the tip of the island.
Big letters at various spots offer photo opportunities for all the tourists. It seems to be a thing here.
We found a table and enjoyed cool beverages and cool breezes until it was time to head back to the mainland. Life's not so bad.
Tomorrow Guatemala City.
