Sugar....ah Honey Honey

If you didn't catch the title reference, here you go.

Corny, I know. But today's post is all about dessert and there have been many. Like these lovely little fishies called Taiyaki from Somi Somi. They are warm crispy and chewy fish-shaped pastries with your choice of filling. We bought a 5 pack to go (2 Nutella, 2 Custard, and 1 Mint Oreo). Sadly, they didn't have Crema Novi.

Taiyaki

While we were waiting for our to go order, we had a Taiyaki with Nutella - upside down in a swirl of Milk Tea and Ube flavored soft serve topped with Biscoff crumbles. So yummy!!

Upside Down with the tail ripped off

The other option would have been Ah Boong, like the online order illustration below. It's basically the opposite of Upside Down, which makes me wonder if Ah Boong means "Right side up"? LOL

Ah Boong

Either direction would have been yummy, but Upside Down is definitely less messy. This next one is called a Puffle Cone. The Puffle is like a Waffle Cone, but puffy, get it?

Classic Puffle - vanilla with vanilla custard

It's nice to try the Classic before anything else. If they can't get vanilla right, then is there any reason to try the others? It's like confirming a base standard of measure. The Classic was good. Highly likely there will be different flavors of puffles and soft serve, in our future.

Finally we have the bakery, and more specifically 85 degrees C Bakery. Why 85℃ you ask? Apparently, it comes from the idea that the perfect brewing temperature for espresso coffee is 85℃. So, it symbolizes the bakery's devotion to provide coffee, breads and cakes of the highest quality. I wonder what the ideal temperature is in Italy? Hmm? Well, we've been here 3 times, never for coffee mind you, but we've tried a number of desserts.

Deluxe Strawberry Cream

This one was the best of the cake slices. Deluxe Strawberry Cream cake - strawberry chiffon cake layers filled with strawberry mousse and vanilla creme brulee.

Pineapple cake

These little suckers are traditional Taiwanese pastries made with a buttery, crumbly crust and filled with chewy, sweet pineapple filling. RC has bought a 3 pack of these every time we go. I eat them with my tea for my sweet breakfast, just like in Italy.

Mission Bay

Of course with all these desserts, we've tried to keep walking. This night we drove to Mission Bay and walked along the water. The sunset was a pretty good payoff, right?

A dopo.
