Last Day in Massa

Having arrived after midnight we had a lazy morning at the Palazzo. We had already decided we were going to have pizza in Piazza Garibaldi one last time before leaving. Though we've learned that Italians rarely order pizza off the menu, we did exactly that and ordered exactly the same pizzas as last time. Neither one of us could stop thinking about how good they were.

I am very proud to say that for the first time during the whole trip, I was able to eat my whole pizza, including my crust. Italians never almost always finish their pizza at the restaurant. Generally speaking they like to order as they go to make sure they finish everything. This is different for us as we would often order extra to bring home for leftovers the next day.

I took one last picture of this sign on the front of our future home. It is an old sign from some business that used to be run in the building. Per the Fine Arts department, the sign can't be removed for historical preservation purposes. I think that's pretty cool. I quick internet search didn't come up with anything, but when we move down and if they let us back into the library maybe we can do some research. How cool would that be if we found some old photos?

We had our last walk in Massa before heading back for our meeting with Niccolò. He picked us up and drove us to the design center/show room in Grosseto. We spent a lot of time figuring out the flooring, but after much discussion and help from Andrea and Niccolò we settled on this brand of tile and the medium color on the left. It was a good choice for durability and maintenance but still has that Tuscan feel.

After the flooring the rest went pretty quickly. We picked a travertine-like product for the bathrooms. Again for durability, maintenance and the Tuscan feel.

The also chose the bathroom fixtures, including a bidet, which for us now feels normal.

Ira really wanted a rain showerhead and I really wanted a handheld, so we got both! And that was pretty much all we needed to pick for today. We stayed in budget for everything, so we are good to move forward. Now we just have to wait on the Fine Arts department.

We said our last goodbyes to Melissa, Andrea and Viola Sofia and then it was back to the Palazzo to pack and pay. We needed to be on our way to Rome by 6:30am.

A dopo!
